Knee Pain after TKR

Just looking for some guidance on what could be causing continuing knee pain after a total knee replacement. Some background, 75 years old, the surgery was 2 years ago on my left knee,
i continue to have sharp pain during squats, knee extensions and going down stairs… The pain is primarily below the knee cap of the left side of the knee, My orthopedist xrayed the knee a month ago and does not see any mechanical problem with the replacement. I’ve been lifting for several years and prior to this had a 1RM of 225 for a squat, 350 for the DL and 210 for Bench. Right now the best i can do on the squat is around 160 due pain…forget doing leg extensions. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
thanks
B J.

Hi @BJB ,

I’m sorry about to hear about the knee symptoms you’ve been dealing with post surgery. Without knowing too much about your background or the reason for the knee replacement, I would recommend starting here and here. The first article provides an overview on our general approach to managing these types of issues in training. The second article covers Osteoarthritis and practical strategies for management.

If the issue persists and you would like more individualized guidance, we do offer remote consultations and rehab programming where we can dive deeper into your training history, your goals, and come up with a more specific game plan on how to move forward. Here is the intake form

Hope that helps,
Charlie
