I’ve been doing barbell rows for sets of 10 and I don’t really feel much of anything in my lats when I do them. I can feel it becoming harder to get the bar to my belly as reps/weight increase, but I don’t feel much of anything in my back the way I do in most muscle groups after completing sets of 10 – eg sets of 10 squats I can feel a bit of a burn and exhaustion in my legs and lower back. When I added dumbbell rows as well to supplement, I immediately felt it in my lats and back and my lats were quite sore the next day. Does this indicate that my form is bad or I’m not engaging my back properly on the barbell rows? Is it possible that at the moment, the lift is being limited by other muscle groups more than by the lats/back and that’s why I’m not feeling it much, and that at some point when the other muscles catch up, my lats will play more of a role? At the moment I’m tempted to just switch to all dumbbell rows and no barbell rows, but you seem to be a fan of barbell rows specifically and I assume there’s a good reason for that.
