Less Volume on Bridge 2.0?

Hi guys,

I was wondering why there is less volume in Bridge 2.0? For example, during the high stress developmental week, The Bridge has 5@6, 5@7, 5@8x4 for squats (30 reps), and 5@6, 5@7, 5@8x5 for bench (35 reps). The Bridge 2.0 has 1@8 and 5@8x4 (20 reps + singles) for both during the same week. It seems the rep schemes are very similar for the comp lifts, but Bridge 1.0 has more pressing volume (5x5), and extra volume with additional 5@6 and 5@7 sets, whereas version 2.0 has a bit less volume @8 for pressing movements, and no prescribed sets @6 and @7. Instead, it has singles @8 added from week 2.

Just wanted to know why that is or if I’m misunderstanding something. Thanks.

The absolute volume is not of peak concern for a strength program, necessarily. Example, if I said do 5 @ RPE 5 x 8 sets…that’s more volume, but probably not terribly useful for building strength. We think that using singles at appropriate times help improve strength via multiple mechanisms and the fatigue produced by them likely have a secondary effect on subsequent volume.
