Lifting Straps

Hello Doc (Jordan),

I see from Instagram (and your recommendation) that you have used the IronMind Sew-Easy lifting straps for quite some time. Although, your recent videos show that you are using black Rogue lifting straps now. Why the change?

What Rogue straps did you go with? Are they a similar sew easy strap style or did you switch to the loop style that tightens around the wrist? If so, how would you compare the sew easy Olympic style to the traditional loop style?

I debated between the IronMind Sew-Easy and the Strong Enough straps, but I went with the Sew Easy based on your recommendation. I believe Austin is using the Strong Enough straps from IronMind in his recent DL video.

Also, I have just started the Barbell Prescription program and used the sew easy straps yesterday for the 3 working sets of DL (8@6, 8@7, 8@8). Today, I noticed my traps were noticeably sore. I didn’t know if this was because of the fact I am not used to sets of 8 in the DL or the fact that I was using straps or maybe both? I usually hook grip for all sets under 5 reps.

I really appreciate your feedback! Thanks and have a blessed day!

I lost my Iron Mind straps after having them for ~ 6 years or so. I had purchased a longer set of rogue straps for a strongman event I did a few years back and have been using them since. I prefer the shorter, Olympic style for barbell-based work. If you’re using straps fro machines, axles, etc. then I can see a case for the longer straps.

Sounds like the set of 8 may have taxed you in a unique way, but I don’t think this is due to the straps.

Thanks for the clarification on straps Doc! I’m glad to hear that you still prefer the Olympic straps. Makes me feel better about my purchase!

FYI - I just purchased an new set of IronMind Sew-Easy straps on Amazon for $18.95 w/ free Prime shipping.

Regarding the deadlift, I also think the higher reps really challenged me in a new way since I am really only use to sets of five.

Thus, I am very thankful for the Barbell Rx template, as I feel this will really help build a larger base of strength and conditioning for future success!

Thanks and have a blessed day!

I’ve used both IronMind Sew-Easy and Rogue lifting straps. The switch to Rogue was mainly due to wanting to try something new.
