Recently I felt a bit fluffy and decided to lose a few kilos after testing 1RMs. M / 28yo / doing time crunch legacy template because I have a newborn at home. Relevant recent numbers:
3 May 2019
BW 84kg / Waist 98cm / est. BF 25%
10 June 2019
BW 79kg / Waist 93cm / est. BF 23%
I’m happy that all the numbers have gone down. I’d like to get my waist size down further though because I still have a belly and significant ‘love handles’.
Losing more weight seems inappropriate from a strength perspective because I’ve lost 5kg in about a month. Should I lose more weight now to get leaner (a goal of mine), or maintain for a while then lose weight? Or can I maintain weight while decreasing the waist size?
Note: I have rarely done conditioning/GPP until reading the Beginner Template ebook this week, which convinced me conditioning is important. I have done daily ~6000 steps and 25 mins bicycle LISS 1x this week and plan to add HIIT in a few weeks.
Thank you. I am immensely grateful for your podcasts, templates, website and videos.
Thanks for the post and congrats on the new addition.
As far as your questions, I’m not sure that I would agree losing more weight is inappropriate from a strength perspective IF WE ALSO look big picture, e.g. your future training career, health, longevity, etc.
You’re still 0.6" higher than my upper end for allowable waist circumference so I would plan on going down to 35" or less prior to going into maintenance mode. I would wait until you can train more before adding calories as well.
