Myo-Rep Match Sets

Does anyone here have experience with myo-rep match sets as described by Mike Isratel in this video https://youtu.be/KIJ77QTsvlo?si=7ih44A9AnjmrmpqN ? I really like a lot of the material from renaissance periodization, but I do feel like Mike does pull some claims out of his ass occasionally. I have thought about using these for arm work or tertiary exercises to shorten training sessions a bit. I was just curious if this rep scheme had any more or less efficacy than regular myo-reps in terms of hypertrophy.

Yep, we’ve programmed myo-reps in a few templates and with clients. They don’t work better than traditional sets and I would outright reject a claim that it did. That said, they can be useful in for saving time.

Would you say they generally perform less well than traditional sets? Or is it a toss-up in terms of effectiveness and just comes down to personal preference?

I think the rest of the programming parameters matter, e.g. volume, intensity, etc. That aside, I think they work about the same when variables are roughly equal. I think people will do more volume at heavier loads with a traditional setup, thereby making it more effective.
