Neck cramps

I posted early about neck pain. That has pretty much resolved, through ROM exercises, the passage of time or otherwise. The issue is I’m now getting periodic neck cramps - the muscles will seize for a few painful moments, I’ll move my neck and it will then return to normal, occasionally with a cracking sound.

I’ve read your series on neck pain and am generally familiar with you pain advice.

Is there anything useful to be done?

Hey, thanks for the question and glad to hear overall your situation appears to have improved. Based on the info you’ve provided, not sure this is an experience I would spend too much time worrying about. Perhaps focusing less on the experience may be helpful. However, we’d be happy to consult with you to discuss this experience further.

It’s hard to focus less on the experience when my neck painfully cramps (aka neck muscle spasms). It’s very noticeable and demands my attention, even if only for a brief period. Other than during the cramp/spasm periods, I don’t really worry about it. The episodic and random nature of the incidents make it hard for me to believe there is any serious underlying condition and that decreases concern.

Totally understandable. Ultimately your response to those scenarios is an important talking point we can have during a remote consultation. We also have an entire neck series out now. If you’ve not had a chance to review it, then I think that would be beneficial (especially part 4).
