New General S&C Qs

Hi BBM,

I recently downloaded the new version of the General S&C template and looking forward to doing it. I had great success with the prior version a few years ago.
I just had a few questions:

  1. What is the purpose of the EMOM work? I was thinking it would serve as the non-specific ‘tertiary’ work for hypertrophy. But the volume of the EMOM work doesn’t seem like a lot to serve as this? Is it high-velocity strength work? If so, why is it at the end of the workout?

  2. What’s the reasoning for only one deadlift movement but three squat movements? Versus two squat movements and two deadlift movements in the prior version?

  3. Why did you choose bodyweight leg accessories e.g copenhagen planks versus machine work such as an adduction machine?

  1. High-ish velocity work with a conditioning component that is not terribly fatiguing and can be completed quickly. 25-30+ reps is certainly a decent chunk of volume.

  2. Just preference for this target audience, who typically hasn’t done a ton of pulling volume previously

  3. I think the BW exercises work better than the machines, provided people have the ability to perform them.
