New member looking for advise

Hey BBM Crew,

New member here, looking for some advise on my nutrition/programming. I started SSLP in Feb and got some reasonable results but my lifts have pretty much stalled in spite of having a light squat day and going 5 sets of 3 for my upper body. My current lifts are:

Squat: 160 lbs (3x5)
Bench: 120 lbs(5x3)
Press: 80 lbs(5x3)
Deadlift: 215 lbs(1x5)

My measurements are:
Age: 36
Height 5’10
Weight 145 lbs
Waist measurement: 35"

I plan to switch to the bridge from the SSLP because the intensity is getting too high and I am missing reps. I have also been gaining weight at 1.5 lbs a week since feb and got from (Super skinny) 133 lbs to 145 lbs, I want to continue gaining weight and I am slowing my rate of gain down to 0.5-1 lb a week, but I am of Asian descent and I am concerned that my waist circumference is getting too high and wondering if I should stop gaining weight altogether for a while and work on re-composition at my current weight and continue gaining later when I have my waist back down? macros are : 298 g carbs 125 g fats and 194 g protein ~3000 kcal a day

Do I have a not very robust response to training? I could only continue my LP for a little over 2 months and my absolute weights are quite a bit below average and my weight gain is (seemingly) a lot of adipose rather than LBM. I am trying to change programming to see what works best, hopefully the bridge will work better? is it because I am substantially underweight?

Thanks!

I think you respond about average to training. I don’t think LP is a panacea for beginner programming. I wouldn’t gain weight any faster than you are now, e.g. ~0.5lb a week tops. Let’s see how things go at the end of the Bridge.

Thanks for the reply!

Perhaps I should have mentioned that the only reason I asked about my response to training was to re-evaluate my rate weight gain. I will slow it down to no more than 0.5 lb/wk. I don’t think SSLP is a panacea… LOL, I just thought it was a good place to start. Week 1 of bridge and it feels really good to lower the intensity.

Thanks Doc!
