For the past 1.5 weeks, I’ve had a dull pain in my right trap (down to mid back, only on right side) and side of my neck. It radiates down my arm, with the arm pain primarily on the dorsal side, all the way to my wrist. The pain is worse when I’m inactive (including at night and when sedentary during the day). I’ve been able to lift without any additional pain (including deadlifts, OHP, sandbag carries), so it’s really just the dull constant pain throughout the day. The pain started appx 36 hrs after doing heavy axle cleans, but I didn’t have any pain while lifting and have done axle cleans since then with no additional while lifting. At first I thought I strained a trap doing cleans, but the arm/wrist pain seems odd for that. Any thoughts? Or suggestions for type of doc to see? Does this sound like an ortho issue, or something like a pinched nerve?
Hey MD1982, welcome to the forum!
Sounds like it could be related to a nerve based on the timeline and description, though I would need more information to weigh-in on a diagnosis and management. My recommendation would be seek out evaluation with a qualified provider. In saying that, I suspect you’re likely to get better care and treatment with our pain and rehab staff than anywhere else. We can set you up if you email support@barbellmedicine.com.
If you wish to use your existing health care providers, I would see your primary care physician and then, if necessary, a sports medicine physician. I suspect both would refer you to physical therapy barring some unique circumstances about your presentation or history.

Thanks, Jordan. I’ve got an appointment with my PCP tomorrow.
One more bit of information- I noticed during training yesterday that my right side was weaker than usual, with no change to my left side. Primarily noticed during dumbbell rows and triceps pushdowns. Not sure if that changes anything, but wanted to mention it.
