Partial Matricectonomy Recovery

Hi dear BBM team,

I have a partial matricectonomy surgery (using Phenol) happenning in my right big toe (both sides of the nail) to deal with an ingrown toenail, I was told by the podologist that I could not do ANY exercise for 3 weeks until I check back with him and given the green light. He then gave me an example where some guy started golfing after a mere 8 days of recovery and his toe nail started shifting, growing on a curved fashion; not pretty.

But I fail to understand given that he said that walking around, going for groceries, etc is fine, but not any lifting at all. Why can’t I do things where I don’t have my feet grounded such as no leg drive bench, seated bicep curls, etc. I don’t think the doctor knows much about lifting and what can or can’t be done so I get it, he’s playing it safe.

What is your opinion on the matter? Could I at the very least do exercises where I don’t trasfer high loads of force to my big toe, would squats and deadlift even affect it?

I’m in the middle of Hypertrophy II and loving the results, I really don’t want to come to a full stop for 3 weeks.

Thank you.

I agree that these recommendations seem excessively restrictive.
