Pb1 Gen 2 Test Week

Good afternoon doctors, continuing to love the program, started block 2 this week, and set 1 rep prs in squat and deadlift, 360 pounds and 380 pounds respectfully. Pretty awesome to do them in the context of training at RPE. Bench was 210 pounds, not a PR, but it implies a PR. Feeling great about training.

38 years old, 5’9, 185 pounds. Ive always had a goal of having a 1,000 pound total. My 1ERM’s off these singles at 8 suggest im finally there, which feels great. So thanks for the awesome programming ansd resources that helped me get here.

My question as it relates to the test week at the end of block 2, was curious the thoughts behind it? Is it primarily just to have a scheduled max day, or is there some training benifit behind it? Part of me likes the idea of maxing, and actually liftitng the 1,000 pound total, and the other part of me is like, I have no real reason to max. Other than PL templates, juat have not seen it scheduled before, so was curious as to the thought process?

Lastly, since I’ve had good progress and like the program, im assuming it would make sense to re-run it when im finished? If so, any tweaks you would recommend to excersize selection or anthing else?

Thanks again,

Matte,

Nice job on your test week. Those are great numbers, for sure! As far as what’s next, we would recommend re-running the template if you enjoyed it and had good success with it. If you felt like some of the exercises didn’t work that well, selecting different variations may be a good idea.

As far as why max out at the end of the template, we programmed a test week because a lot of people were doing it anyway. So, we felt that giving people instructions on how-to do it efficiently was a good idea. You can skip it if you want, as I don’t think there’s likely to be any difference in health or muscle gain if you do the max week or if you skip it. I think people who are looking to maximize strength as measured by a 1RM need exposure to the test though, which is why it’s there

All makes sense, thanks Jordan.
