Peri-Rx Reviews?

I finally took the plunge and ordered some Peri-Rx, Amazon Prime will get it to me on Friday in time for my weekend workouts. I’m sort of excited to see how it works. I’ve never used a pre/post workout before so I figured if I’m going to try I’m going to go with BBM’s product. Has anyone on here used Peri-Rx? What did you think?

I have used it and still use it. I am on my second container. I have no idea if I am benefiting from it but am going on blind faith. It taste like if you dissolved a Jolly Rancher in 8oz of bleach. Peri-Rx sounds like it’s for periodontal disease but I digress.

Ha! Well that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement but I’m looking forward to trying it out. I have to admit that I think the name is pretty bad (what does it even mean?) but whatever, I only care about results, not names. Thanks for taking the time to tell me your thoughts.

In this context it means both pre and post workout.

I really don’t get it. What is Peri short for? I already feel dumb asking this.

I think it means “around” like around your workout, e.g. near your workout. Like pericardium is around the heart or a perihelion is the orbit of a planet or something.

@MorganIsm seems to have the entomology down pretty solidly, and I’ll back @neandrewthal with these two quotes from To be a Beast (emphasis from the original)

I also like to have the majority of the carbohydrates, like 25-35% of total carbohydrates, come in the meals directly before and directly after training. I also like these periworkout meals to be a little skinny on the fat content, if possible.

Another thing people might inquire about is the timing of meals and the macronutrient total in each specific meal. I basically like to see the macros evenly spread out across all the meals. The only deviations from this are the pre and post workout meals, which are a both skinny on fat content and high in carbohydrates. This prevents slowed digestion of the meals and the decreased transit time through the gut that occurs with higher fat content in meals. In this periworkout window I like to feed the athlete with some carbohydrates beforehand to fuel the workout and to replenish the muscles/initiate protein remodeling afterwards. Anything preventing the uptake of the digested proteins and carbohydrates, amino acids and glucose, respectively, does not aid in this goal.

@MorganIsm Care to explain that avatar?

Edit: The quote code italicized the entire quote, so I bolded the portions from the original that were italicized.

I’ve been taking Gainzz/Peri Rx since maybe mid Late December/January consistently, with pretty good results. Although its tough to really tease out the product versus the training/focus/dietary adjustments I made since the new year, I feel generally pretty good throughout workouts and am at my strongest ever. I stick with the dosing recommended, and usually supplement 200-400mg of caffeine (pills) depending on what training day it is. I still lift 3x a week.

It is also recommended to follow the dosing on the off days as well, but that means you would need 2 tubs a month (30 days, 2 scoops per day, 30 scoops in a container = 60 servings). If you just follow it on training days, it will last you about a month and a half with training 3x a week. So I do training days only, and recently (started today) on my off days I have 5g of Creatine, since 1kg from Bulk Supplements lasts you about 200 days. Those 2 and whey protein are the only supplements I go through. I asked Jordan on one of his live streams about this and he said its cheaper but you will miss out on some of the extras in Gainzzz/Peri. I consider it a good trade off.

So I used Peri-RX before and after my workouts this weekend. It was different than I expected, it tasted okay, but more full than I thought it would be. It was definitely not bad, and it was sort of fun to use this weekend. I felt the slight tingles from the Beta-Alanine and it gives me my daily creatine. I can’t say that it did anything though because I felt pretty much the same during my workouts. I’m not sure if I’m going to spend $50 a month on it. I’m definitely going to use all of it before I make a decision on whether to buy it again.

I agree the name is “submaximal” but it is a hell of a pre-workout. I have used it for four days now. It really gives me a big bump in the morning. It also seems to last much longer than an “energy” drink and I haven’t noticed a crash afterward either. I don’t know if it is a placebo effect but my working weights have gone up as well as volume. Plus I sweat like a pig at a luau.

Do you take two servings every day, even non-training days?

This is interesting to me, especially if you used the non caffeinated version. Which one did you use?

Isnt it just identical to Gainzzz rx?

Yes, they changed the name.

I thought I should follow up since I made a decision not to re-purchase this stuff. It’s not bad, the taste is fine, but it didn’t really do anything for me. I found myself not bothering with it lately and I enjoyed going back to my standard black coffee, creatine, and chewable Vitamin D supplement routine.

Jordan put this out because he got tired of so many people asking him what all they need to buy to make their own pre-workout. The financial GainZzZzZ prolly had something to do with it too. All of the components in Peri-RX are proven to work, but they obviously aren’t shit compared to proper sleep/nutrition for recovery. Get your recovery right, and if you have a couple extra bucks to spend then buy it. I’d assume the most noticeable difference comes from the 800 mg of sodium. So if you can’t afford it then just make sure you’re salting the hell out of everything.

I started SSNLP at 194 lbs and 20-22% bf and a 37 or so inch waist. 2 months later I was 204, 23-25% bf and 39" waist. I followed Jordan’s advice and recomped the last couple of months and started taking GainzZz RX and I gained 3 more lbs, and my waist went down an inch. I had been taking creatine by itself before.

I didn’t notice much difference between my actual performance, but my body comp has improved while my recovery kept constant, even though I wasn’t eating any where near as much. So I’m a fan. I’m well aware correlation doesn’t equal causation, but for all the good content BBM puts out I’m happy to give them my $40/month for something that either helps only as much as cheaper creatine only alternatives, or helps even more.

I wanted to try both flavors and my opinion is sour gummy is vastly superior. I’m really not a huge fan of the watermelon flavor, even though I generally like watermelon and sour watermelon flavored candies. I’ll be signing up for the monthly sour gummy PerriRx subscription when I near the end of this supply.

Yea, that’s cool, but do tell, where are you getting Peri-Rx for $40?

Yah, I’ve kinda switched to spending the $ on BCAAs when on a caloric deficit, and relying on Whey otherwise.

Taste is meh. But it is all in one so shake it with water and chug it.
