I had a left knee arthroscopy in May this year which resulted in the medial meniscus being trimmed and the lateral meniscus being re-attached. I’ve been happy with my recovery and I’m currently on week 5 of PB1.
The issue I’m concerned about is my tendency to shift my balance from left (post op limb) to my right side when standing up from LBBS-there’s no pain, its as though my body is subconsciously ‘protecting’ itself.
Apart from making a conscious effort to avoid this, are there any self cues I can use? Is this a common phenomenon?
I would not expect a simple “cue” to fix this, but rather some exposure via programming modifications to be useful. We have a few articles and podcasts (e.g., episode 114) that discuss post-operative knee rehabilitation, which should often include dedicated unilateral work to address this kind of thing. Check these out:
Brilliant-thank you!
