Practical guidelines to prevent excessive weight gain on a bulk

Are there any specific criteria or measurements that you should keep your eye on while bulking for health reasons? For example, staying under a certain bmi, waist size measurement, or bodyfat percentage. Basically how do you prevent gaining too much weight to where it is a detriment to your health?

Noah, great question and yes, I think we can come up with some guidelines here:

  1. < 30 BMI
  2. <37" waist circumference (though my preference is even lower, ~ 35-6")
  3. No firm body fat cut off
  4. Gain weight slowly -Jordan

Thanks for the response Jordan, those guidelines are helpful.
