Pressing every day is not bad for you?

Hello BBM Crew,

In my last programming template I got from you guys I have bench or some kind of variation of that every single training day (4 training days this week).

If I were to do my four workouts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday is that okay? Or am I suppose to make sure each training day has a recovery day that follows?

Is it not harmful to bench on a Monday, then again on Tuesday? Those are back to back days?

Thank you

Why would that be “bad” for you or harmful?

I think the “accepted” mindset of “you must wait 48 hours to workout the same muscle” in fitness circles is a mental block that a lot of people will have to overcome. I think you or Jordan alluded to the fact that the SRA cycle isn’t straightforward in that you create a stress, and then recover/adapt in a finite time. That there is some stress that takes longer to fully recover and adapt to based on a number of variables. This is why a more advanced lifter might go on vacation and come back stronger than when they left. Meanwhile, a novice might detrain in the same time frame.

Exactly the same reason MitchellCole said. I was under the impression my whole life that if you bench for instance, you should wait at least one day to do it again. Obviously I’m not expert which is why I am here but that was my thinking.

I mostly just want to make sure that I wasn’t doing my lifts on the wrong days.

If I have a program for the week to do four lifts, is there any guidelines one which days to do those? It would be a bad idea to do them Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in a row right?

Yes, the idea that your muscles always need a full rest day off after any physical stressor, or the idea that you should not train again until fully recovered from the prior bout, are completely wrong.

The more advanced you get, the more training stress you’ll need per unit time. The only way to make this happen is to sometimes train under a fatigued state.

We like running our 4-day programs on something like a Monday / Tuesday / Thursday / Friday schedule, if possible.
