So , Im lactose intolerant and your average whey protein cause me issues. (gas, bloating and loose stool) I’ve tried beef isolates and also whey isolates. From what I’ve read and have been told, when the lactose enzyme is removed from the whey " It shouldn’t bother my stomach" Ive tried a few various brands, some won’t give me upset stomach but my stool won’t be “normal”. I prefer to try and eat for my nutrition but protein supplements can make life a little easier. My question is, If i consume a protein product that gives me these symptoms, is my body even able to assimilate the protein?
Woolfypoo,
So, there’s no lactose in either our whey or beef isolate so there’s either something else going on with your diet or your tolerance of supplements. Lactose is a sugar and lactase is the enzyme. One way to determine if you really have a lactose allergy and that is the cause of the issue with whey/beef isolates is to try taking the protein with some lactaid pills (which contain the lactase enzyme).
If you have large amounts of diarrhea then you’re probably not absorbing a good amount of the food, in general.
