Do you really need to have a protein shake before and after workout? I have always thought this to be the case, but now I think this is stupid. Also, should I aim to consume the same amount of macronutrients per day even on off days? Thanks

It doesn’t really matter where you’re getting your protein from so long as you’re getting 1.6g/kg bw/day.
I would keep the macros the same on off days, yes.
