Protein Target when Overweight

I know the recommendation is 1gram of protein per lb of body weight while training, but does that change if I’m currently overweight? I.e. I’m 5’11" and 265lbs and want to get down to roughly 210 or 220. Is the any significant benefit to eating 265 grams of protein vs 210 grams per day? Thanks!

I don’t think there’s much difference between eating 265 or 210g per day and would pick 210g per day for you in this situation.

Thanks for the response. I’m glad to hear that! It’s really hard to comply with that last 50 grams and keep a calorie deficit.
