I’ve been following Barbell Medicine templates for the past 2.5 years. My progression has been as follows:
The Bridge 1.0
Powerbuilding 1 (2x)
Strength 1
At home template (did this for about a year during covid lockdowns)
Beginner Template
Strength 1 (currently on week 5)
I am wondering what direction you recommend me going after I complete Strength 1. I’m considering at least a slight break from pure Strength/Powerlifting for my next block, however I’m not sure if I should go in the direction of Hypertrophy 2 or Powerbuilding 2. I’m probably just getting hung up on useless details, but is it more beneficial to break up training cycles into pure strength and pure hypertrophy, rather than a hybrid approach like Powerbuilding? In the long run I’m definitely more interested in getting as strong as possible (powerlifting) but I also like to look like I lift, I just don’t find sets of 12 to be very fun.
