Questions about Time Crunch Template (EMOM Sets)

Hello Jordan and team,

I have two questions about the procedure for EMOM sets.
After completing the top set, surely I take a “normal / regular” break of 3-5 min. if time permits before starting the EMOM back off sets?

What about unilateral exercises such as split squats?
Do I do my top set on one side first, pause, then do the top set on the other side? That probably makes sense.

How should I proceed in the EMOM sets?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards
Christian

Christian,

Are you referring to a protocol like this:

5 to 8 reps @ RPE 8, then 63% e1RM x 5 reps every 3 minutes on the minute x 3 sets (or RPE 8, whichever comes first)

If so, no, I would not rest >3 minutes after your top set of 5-8 reps before doing the 63% x 5 rep sets. I would rest 3 minutes as indicated.

I would do both sides of a unilateral exercise and rest in between sets.

To be clear, I don’t believe any of the work in the template is every minute on the minute exactly. Rather, they have multiple minutes of rest between sets.
