Working out in the morning, and time crunch

Dear Docs,

Due to preferences and time restraints, I’m going to work out in the mornings, where I’ll only have an hour.

My plan is to switch straights sets with RPE, e.g., 4x6 @7, to EMOM with RPE.

For example, if I normally do 6 sets of 5 on bench, I will shift to 6 minutes of EMOM, with a similar rep range and RPE.

I’m doing this with most of my exercises.

This will change the formulation and dose of the stimulus, but would it be a reasonable change for the main purpose of hypertrophy, with strength in the big 3 being a close second, given the time crunch?

I apologize if my question is vague or unclear. If so, please let me know!

Thanks,

Andrew

I don’t think this is how I would program for strength or hypertrophy if I had an hour. You might check out our time crunch template for specific examples.

That said, in this case I’d probably do 4-6 sets of 4 with 3 min rest for 2 exercises and be done in 1 hour. Alternatively, you could do 1 priority exercise with straight sets taking 20-30 min, then one with fewer sets (probably closer to failure) for 15 min, then 1 exercise using myoreps for 5-10 min.

Thanks, Jordan!
