Rack/block pulls for assistance

I’m currently running through PB3 after having run through PB1 and PB2 several times. Do you think using heavy, above-the-knee rack pulls is a useful upper back GPP day movement for upper back/traps? Or do you think it’s not that effective of a movement? Do you think it will adversely affect my deadlift progress, or cause too much fatigue to be able to train effectively on mi dia de peso muerto? Thanks.

While I think deadlifts and variations thereof definitely train the traps and surrounding musculature, I would absolutely not do rack pulls for this purpose. I would favor shrugs or upright rows, leaning more towards rows, for a trap-focused GPP exercise. I prefer pull-ups, rows, and variations thereof for this type of GPP personally.

FWIW, I do not think above the knee rack pulls are useful for most people’s deadlift.
