Reactive hypoglycemia

35 yrs old. 5’8". 165 lbs. Maybe 15-17% bodyfat. Cutting phase 1850 kcal. Approx. 40/40/20 P/C/F. Coeliac

Is it possible to experience reactive hypoglycemia as a result of eating 30-40g of simple sugar in a short space of time, whilst not having any underlying pathology? I’m on a cut and I don’t routinely eat that much sugar in one go. I didn’t bother seeing my GP as I assumed the response might be “LOLz, you ate a load of sugar, don’t do it”. At least I assume it was reactive hypoglycemia - light-headed/dizzy, mild sweating. Doesn’t happen after normal meals, only when a lot of sugar is taken in.

It seems very unlikely without other pathology.

I came across an older thread on the SS Nutrition subforum, discussing waxy maize for preworkout - you mentioned not being able to take >30-40g “by itself because of the potential for some reactive hypoglycemia”. This is where I ran out of answers: Something that needs further attention (medically) versus something that’s expected (physiologically-speaking) and can/should/needs to be managed with sensible diet.

Yea, there was some more context there for that response as I recall. That said, I wouldn’t recommend eating pure sugar at any point for anyone who is not hypoglycemic or in DKA and requiring medical attention for that.
