Recomp during 12 week strength template?

Hi BBM team,

Right now I’m in the early weeks of the 12-week strength template and things are going good so far. I’m 20, male, 5’11, 187lb, and have about a 33-34 inch waist but feeling a little fluffier than I want. I want to be able to recover enough to make strength gains but also would like to slowly shed off some fat over time.

Would recomping while running the 12-week strength template be a non-issue, or would it severely impact my ability to recover from the training? I know yall recommend not to cut during this template but don’t know how you feel about recomping.

It would be a non-issue…to the extent re-comping is possible. I would just lose weight if you want to be leaner, as I don’t think a modest deficit is likely to have any effect on your training.

Okay, sweet. When you say modest, do you mean something like losing 1 lb a week? I’m assuming 2 lb a week is not a good idea in terms of recovery.

I don’t think you’d notice the difference either way, but my general recommendation is ~ 2.5% of bodyweight per month is a good rate.
