Rep/Set/RPE format question

Hi there,

Reading over various templates, for instance, Day 2 on the 3 Week Advanced Slow Peaking template, Squats w/no Belt read as “6@8, Repeat 6@8 for 2 more sets”. Is that any different to 6@8 x 3 sets?

In other templates, other example read as “repeat 8@8 x 2 sets” and” repeat 8@8 x 2 more sets” across different days/weeks. Could that simply be written as “repeat 8@8 x 3 sets”?. Or does the “repeat” explicitly refer to keeping the weight the same from the previous week assuming RPE maintains? I’ve noticed where it often says repeat it’s not on a competition lift?

The sentence structure/word usage to me suggests there could be differences, although I may simply be unfamiliar with the preferred formatting lingo…

They have not standardized their language for this, and it can be misread easily. Yes when you read 6@8, repeat 6@8 for 2 more sets, it’s the same thing as 6@8x3. You would find your 6@8 on the first set, then keep the weight the same provided you stay in the 8-8.5 range. If you hit @9, then pull 5% off the bar for the following sets to lower RPE and get the volume in.

Okay cool, so I’ll simply try not to read too much into it!
