Hey Jordan i was wondering what your current view on Lyle McDonald’s Rapid Fat Loss diet is as i know you have suggested it to certain people in the past. I am currently in my 3rd week but still unsure if this is the best way to go about getting lean for the first time in my life.
I don’t think it’s better than any other very low calorie diet and whether or not it’s the best way to get lean depends on context and retrospective analysis after its done. What do you weigh and what’s your body fat?
I did the Rapid fat loss diet when it first came out. I lost a bunch of weight, like 4-6 pounds a week. But I felt like poop and my lifting went into the toilet. It is easy to stick to other than boredom. The weight came back pretty rapidly once it was over and I was trying to regain strength and muscle. I switched to his flexible diet stuff and lost 70 lbs, mostly of fat, in about 18 months and kept it off until the first kid came around and life got a lot more hectic.
Not to hijack the thread, but a question for Jordan: Do you guys plan on ever having Lyle on your podcast? I think there is some overlap and he has a new-ish book out he has been promoting on the various podcasts.
Sorry i meant to add stats
height: 5’9
weight: 182
bodyfat: I estimated it to be around 25%
best lifts
squat: 265 3x5
bench: 185
press: 115 1x5
deadlift: 300x5
Nah. He’s not the type of guest we’d like to promote.
I probably wouldn’t do RFL in this case, but rather a more metered weight loss approach.
