I have this weird rib pain when i arch my upper back when I bench press. It also occurs when i do any vertical pulling( chin up, pull ups etc.). I was wondering if benching with a flat back is ok( not sure if this would lead to shoulder pain and or injury) until the pain goes away or if there are any bench variations you would recommend in this situation.
Sure, flat back benching as a workaround is fine if it hurts less to do that.
