Hello,
What’s the BBM view on sleep as it relates to fat loss/gain? More specifically, how big a role does adequate (quality + length) sleep affect fat loss/gain practically?
In principle sleep loss cannot magically add fat, but it does seem to affect the ability to lose fat vs LBM:
IIRC it also affects BMR and endocrine function among other things but I’m not sure to what significant a degree.
Are you more likely to put on fat than muscle in caloric surplus if sleep is poor for an extended period of time? Does sleep adequacy affect the type of fat that is produced, i.e. visceral vs subcutaneous, bellyfat vs peripheral fat, etc?
