I am 21 years old, 5’11, 82kg and planning to join my country’s military around Summer/Autumn 2019.
I have ran LP incorrectly for a short time previously but also wasted a lot of time in the gym and have not been active for a few months.
Aside from needing to pass physical tests, which I can probably do right now, I’d like to continue to improve performance in push-up/pull-up/sit-up tests and also develop my endurance since I have never really trained cardio or running.
A potential issue I noticed is that there is a BMI/weight limit to join which I might go past within a year if I bulk on LP.
I have read a lot about this and there are people who suggest that I should be running 6+ week periodisation cycles despite me being weak so I’d appreciate any advice.
Should I do anything different during or after SS?
What would you do after SS in this situation?
Should I start conditioning now since it’s my weakest area? How do I implement it?
If you’re not training right now you should start doing that ASAP and you could do a lot worse than SSLP. Given your familiarity with it, I’d recommend it.
After SS is about 3-4 months from now if you aren’t currently training. I would do a bunch of things between then (Summer '18) and when you’re going to join the military. Training is almost always periodized if it is planned in any intelligent manner. For instance, SSLP follows a linear periodization model (so does TM by the way). That said, I don’t think I can tell you exactly what to do for over a year without knowing anything about you.
I would not start conditioning now based on your stats. Plenty of time for that later.
I feared that I was overthinking it, thanks for clearing that up. I will restart and run SS out to the end and return when I need to change my training.
