I just purchased the Strenghtlifting II template and I have some questions about the accessories. My goal for this template is to increase my Press, Deadlift and Squat and I want to keep it as close to the recommended default exercises.
To start, I train at home with only a squat stand similar to the Rogue S-4 with the addition of safety pins. The best I can do for overload squat is beltless high bar as I have seen it being recommended in the forum.
For overload Deadlift, I’ll stick to block pulls.
Now for Day 3’s upper body assistance it says “ preferred accessory as weighted dips to DB Incline Bench to BB Incline bench to CG flat, to touch and go bench”.
I’d like to stick with dips but I only have rings, a pair of plate storage pins that I can use as a hack by temporarily installing them on my squat stands and bringing them as close to each other, and parallete pushup bars.
I’d prefer not to do weighted ring dips because of the instability, however, doing dips on the storage pins, makes my shoulder hurt because it’s still pretty wide. I have a pair of parallete push up bars though. Can I do weighted pushups instead?
I do Press 2.0 for my main lift, do I also use my hips for Paused Press or strict? I would guess strict?
From week 9 onwards, Day 3’s Squat becomes Pin Squat. The video about the squat in the manual is no longer available. Am I doing that variant as deadstop or lift off from the j-hooks, descend to pins, pause, then up? I see both versions on the internet when I google it.
I’ll see how safe the Pin Squat is with my current setup, but if it doesn’t feel right, I might just continue with Pause Squats. Would that be fine?
