Sumo DL as Comp DL and Supplemental Lifts

When running the 12 WS template and Sumo stance is my comp DL, are there any recommended changes to the Supp lifts?

  1. Rack Pull - Overloads the back vs legs for better lockouts? Keep these still maybe?
  2. Leg Press/RDL - Seems good to keep these in for leg work/strength off the floor
  3. 2 Ct paused - No change in movement except for pause so obviously this one is a keeper.
  4. 2" deficit DL - Not sure about this one
  5. SLDL - Not sure about this one, i’ve seen that 1 could do a straight leg equivalent sumo DL

There are any number of changes one could make to it, but without knowing anything else about you I don’t think I can confidently make prescriptive recommendations on the matter. By default, I’d run the program as-is to see how you respond, and if you feel you could benefit from swapping out some of the supplemental deadlifts in order to benefit your sumo pull, you’d be able to make a more informed decision at that point. For many of the sumo dead lifters that I coach, we still keep a fair amount of conventional pulling in their training until they get close to a meet.
