I pull sumo and am starting powerbuilding I on Monday. There are a couple of deadlift variations in the program, and I know it is possible to perform these variations from a sumo stance. Since I pull sumo, would I be better off performing the prescribed variations in sumo stance, or should I perform the variations in a conventional stance? Any advice you can give me on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
Relevant Logic,
Thanks for the post and your business - it is much appreciated!
For this application, I could go either way. The main determinant would be if you’re going to compete in PL anytime soon and/or are in a phase where your 1RM deadlift is of utmost importance. If the answer to both of those questions are “no” then I’d probably do both sumo AND conventional pulls and would do the priority pull a sumo DL and the accessory pull(s) conventional. If you were running the strength template and/or had a meet coming up, I’d do them all sumo in your case.

Jordan, thanks for the reply! I am neither competing, nor is my 1rm deadlift of particular importance right now - so I am taking your advice and going with conventional stance for the accessory pulls. Cheers mate!
