Template transitioning and deload

Hi docs,

I have just run your Stenghtlifting 2 program. I enjoyed the program and tested my squat and overhead press after it (PR in both lifts! Press from 70kg to75kg, squat 160 kg to 170kg), but now have a question regarding a possible need for further deload. I will give you more accurate information:

I started the last week of Strenghtlifting normally. However, instead of doing two easy days after testing, I tested my squat and press on wednesday. This means that I had only one day of easy training instead of 2, and hence do not think that this short period before my test functioned as a reasonable deload week.

I am telling this to you, because after a one day of full rest, I started Hypertrophy 2 template. Training has felt really good, but since I have done two full programs of pure strenght training, I got really sore from this new form of training (new excercises, volume has bumped up, etc.), even though this week has been labeled as a low stress week. I feel really good otherwise, no pains and aches, my sleep is good etc.

Now, my question is: do you think that I should do a further deload after testing my 1rm:s in squat and press, or should I just continue normally? I am asking this, because I dont know that is this one low stress week enough rest for me, especially if I feel really sore after training.

I think you should just continue the hypertrophy II template as written. Nice job and congrats on your PRs :slight_smile:
