Training 5 days per week

For someone meet prepping with 5 days a week to train, would your preference be to have them run Strength I as written, or Strength III but drop a GPP day?

I previously used Strength I for prep with good results, and am getting ready to prep again. I’m wondering if Strength III would give my training a boost, but I can really only commit to 5 days a week in the gym. Ideally, each season is 90 minutes give or take, so I can’t really stack a GPP day on a lifting day. I am running Hypertrophy II right now, and it’s a bit much, and really feel better with two rest days a week.

Other data if helpful:
39 y/o male
5’10” 187lb 37” waist
Barbell training about 3 years. This would be my second meet prep.

Thanks! Looking for advice on making the best use of training time.

HL288,

I think if you got good results from STR I before, I would fire it up again. I think after HYP II you’re likely to respond well. Let us know how it goes!

Thank you, will do. Strength I worked well, at the beginning of prep I just wanted to walk out of my first meet totaling over 1,000 and wound up hitting 1,119. I wasn’t sure if the “first order” templates would be deemed “inadequate” for someone who has been training for a bit, but we’ll keep doing what works until it doesn’t.

I think finding the appropriate dose and formulation of training can be challenging. Sounds like you’ve found something that has been working pretty well and I’d be hard-pressed to change it.
