I feel pretty confident that the correct answer is going to be “What are you going to do, not train?” but was hoping for some reassurance or to be corrected.
This weekend I will be attempting to summit Mount Whitney.
Yesterday I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and possibly the beginning of Broncitus (I have two in my household that with Broncitus and ear infections as well as one with Pneumonia).
I started amoxicillin yesterday. I don’t feel horrible, mainly just really tired.
Should I continue to train or would rest be better? I know if we were discussing long term, results training would be the answer but since I need to get healthy as soon as possible I am unsure. When I google the question I get a resounding no. that being said I place my faith in BBM.
If you feel well enough / motivated enough to train, I don’t think it is going to significantly delay your recovery from bronchitis, if that’s what you’re asking. It could result in a disproportionate amount of fatigue, however, that you may not be willing to take on before your trip. As for the “long term” view … it probably doesn’t matter what you do this week.
I am feeling much better. I will spend the rest of the week stretching, foam rolling, working on mobility and using ice (joke). I do plan to do a Deload with the remaining time. I can’t wait to get this behind me so I can get back to training for strength! Thank you all for this amazing site!
How does one go about redeeming the 1000 bonus points?
is this an example of where RPE can help? I’ve got a cold and I feel weak and tired, but could train, maybe. So maybe my warmups will feel like and RPE 8, and I could adjust accordingly?
