Upper Back Pain Between Shoulder Blades

Over the course of the last few weeks I’ve had pain between my shoulder blades that has progressively gotten much worse. It started with me carrying my gym bag over my shoulder thinking “why does my gym bag feel so heavy” and has now evolved into me holding back tears doing every day tasks such as picking up a one year old, reaching for items, and even just repositioning myself. It’s a sharp pain that almost feels as if the wind is being knocked out of me. The pain has also migrated to my sternum whenever I feel the sharpness. I have tried to lift and continue training regardless of the pain with decreased weight loading, but as I mentioned previously, the pain has progressively gotten worse in spite of the changes I’ve made to my training. Could this be a pinched nerve? Should I seek medical treatment? The only thing that seems to give me any sort of relief at this point is Naproxen and even that has provided very little. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
Kelsey

Hard to say exactly what could be going on here, but based on your description I think seeking medical evaluation would be a smart next move.
