Vacation Question

So, I have a vacation coming up Labor Day weekend 31st through Sept 4th. It will be in a resort, so I am not sure what type of gym setup that they would have other than maybe some treadmills. If they have any type of strength training equipment, I will use it just to not have a complete lay-off.

Week 8 of Phase II on the Beginner Template is the week before the vacation. I plan to do a 2 day (Thurs the 5th and Sat the 6th – going back to MWF the next week) workout week. What would your advice be for those 2 days:

  1. Pick 2 days of the 8.2 week. If so, which ones would be more productive?
  2. Or alternatively, should I make that an abbreviated Phase III week 1 which is “low stress” anyways?

Also, in your opinion, do you think the Beginner Template’s Phase II & III are suitable to run again or should I move on to the General Strength and Conditioning right after I stop making gains in Phase III? I’m trying to get as strong as I can before starting the Endurance Template in late January to ramp up for the next endurance season in the spring.

I’ve made significant gains in the Beginner Template so far, so I am definitely keeping with your programming. Thanks for putting it out there and at such a reasonable price!

We’re glad to hear you’re doing well on the beginner template.

This would be one of those situations where we shouldn’t agonize too much over the short-term minutiae. In other words, you could pick either option 1 or option 2, and I doubt your outcomes would be any different a few months from now.

Now, If I were in that situation I’d probably pick two days of the 8.2 week (with no strong preferences as to which would be “more productive” – if you’re hitting the main lifts, you’re good).
