Which templates to use for a 60 y/o non competitor

I would like to plan out a full year of intermediate training and want to know what the minimum but sufficient set of templates I would need to use for basic strength and hypertrophy training. I do not intend to compete during this time period and would classify myself as an early intermediate. I basically need to build a solid foundation. On the spectrum of training response, I would place myself somewhat below average. I have acceptable mobility (can low bar squat) and I don’t have any significant injuries.

I am assuming that I would alternate the HLM and Hypertrophy templates given I don’t need the peaking the 12 week strength template includes. Also is the HLM template really heavy light medium or more balanced in stress for each day across the week.

I don’t necessarily think trying to plan out a full year of training in advance is the best idea (or a realistic one, to be honest). Things come up, plans change, goals change, aches/pains/injuries happen … so for the types who like to have very specific plans laid out far in advance … trying to plan a year of training is almost bound to result in frustration.

I know we have some folks from your demographic cohort here who can comment and describe their experience with our templates / programming style so far.

Thanks for the response. To be honest, I thought a year of planning (Macrocycle) was a bit optimistic, but I read this quote from the Bridge And figured, what am I going to do, not plan!

“For context, in this specific program, we are running a strength mesocycle, which is part
of the yearly macrocycle. While this all may sound wildly complicated, we’d like to
suggest the radical idea that long-term planning of training is likely to produce
better results than flying by the seat of your pants, you know?”
