Hello, obviously another post on which template you would think is best!
I’m currently 12 weeks away from joining the Military. I’ve passed all the test and did fairly well. I’m hoping to go on and do Commando training which involves a good amount of conditioning.
Some information about me: Male 29 88kg
SSB squat: 150kg x3
Sumo Deadlift: 190kg x1
Bench press: 110kg x1
Press: 70kg x1
2k run time 8:45
My aims are to continue to increase my maximal strength and improve my run time. I understand that it will be hard to do both at the same time but I currently have Monday to Friday free to train all day, so can do doubles if needed and weekend I can run but don’t have access to a gym during that time
I was considering running the bridge but am open to other templates obviously.
For running I was Doing Jack Daniels Red plan. Which involved 4 days of running per week with two tempo runs and two easy runs as mandatory with optional running other days.
For weight training I’ve been a program hoper with no set structure really. Just been hitting a heavy 5/3/1 (not the program) max with back down sets in an upper lower fashion with one day dedicated to S/B/D/P, back work thrown in on three out of the four days, and assistance work such as goodmornings on lower body days and dumbell presses on upper as a broad overview.
Yea I was more talking about the lifting. I think any of our strength-focused templates would be far preferable to what you’ve been doing for strength training. I’d wager the conditioning work you’re doing right now is fine for your goals.
