Greetings and Happy Holidays! Thanks for all that you do — us followers are certainly better for it!
My question is: in the context of the diet of an otherwise healthy individual who meets their daily macro and fiber goals, is there an optimal way to time the moderate consumption of alcohol so as to minimally interfere with muscle protein synthesis and/or recovery?
For example, is it preferable to either consume alcohol with a meal or by itself between meals? Does the dosage (short of getting drunk) play a role?
That makes sense, thank you. Are you then saying that the effect on timing of alcohol is more relevant to the extent to which someone feels compelled to drink rather than when they choose to do so?
I also realize I could have rephrased my original question to be less vague: if someone is going to drink moderately for enjoyment, and had a choice as to when they were going to do so, is there an optimal way to strategize their alcohol consumption?
So alcohol between meals won’t extend the refractory period and interfere with the gainzZz from the next meal?
And on a more serious note, when is the bourbon taste test? I can’t believe I watched a root beer taste test with a bottle of Van Winkle 12 year old special reserve just sitting there.
