What to do when failing a rep in a working set? Say you failed rep 3 of the first working set of press.
On SSLP or another program? What are the other things that we might want to know here as well, e.g. age, weight (and change in weight over past month), how long you’ve been on the program, etc…
I am on SSLP. I am 44M, 5’7", on program since one month or so. Body weight change over past month :162lbs to 167lbs
I did not miss a rep yet. But I would like to know how to approach when it happens given I am good with eating, recovery, stress, rest times between sets and weight increments.
When a rep is missed and consequently the set is failed, should I;
- Stop that exercise and move to next exercise?
- Try same set one more time with the same weight?
- Or else?
And, how to approach same exercise in the next workout?
If you fail a set by missing a rep, take 10% off the bar and finish the reps you have missed for that movement. Then move on. Restart your progression from there.
