Asymmetric muscle growth

Hi folks,

first of let me thank you for all the content you put out there, particularly the great podcast (wouldn’t mind more IG Q&A podcast episodes!).

Since I am increasing my caloric intake to make some hypertrophic gainzZ. To track my progress a little bit better I took some measurements and found a (larger than expected) difference in the circumference of my quads of around 2 cm or 3%. When doing bilateral barbell movements I never had the feeling of a “weak side” so I am not too concerned about it. But I am still curious: Is this within the usual range of difference? Would I benefit from doing more unilateral work (such as split squats)?

Thank you very much!
Daniel

Nearly everyone is asymmetrical and I wouldn’t bother trying to “correct” this, as I’m not sure it’s correctable in the first place. That said, unilateral work can be useful in the right context. I’m not sure what your current training is or your training history so it’s hard to comment about swapping or adding exercises.
