the beginner template has three training days in a week.This obviously helps to structure your week by having each training session fall always on the same day. But if we look on it purely from a standpoint of making the fastest progress possible, would it be beneficial to train every other day if I have the time available? Or is it better to take those two days off to recover?

We think it’s best if you have a few consecutive days off rather than train every other day, particularly for those who the Beginner Template is aimed at. Later on however, this may change.
Finally, I don’t know that chasing the fastest progress possible during the early days of training is a great idea, given that this is pursuit that takes years, ya know? Rather, I’d aim to find things you like about the process of training itself vs. just the outcomes.
