Broken bone - training & nutrition

Greetings all!

Just as my gym started to re-open and I pulled the trigger and purchased the beginner program, I fell and broke my 4th metacarpal on my left hand. Luckily it requires little more than some rest and a hand/wrist splint and buddying up some fingers.

My question is this, I’ve gotten somewhat fatter during lockdown and was in the process of starting a weight loss phase when the fall occurred. Would it be counter productive to the healing process to continue with this weight loss phase? Would a maintenance phase be better suited for the next 4-6 weeks? (Time frame given for bone to ‘heal’)

Further, would going in and doing a modified beginner template be better than doing nothing (I imagine the answer is yes) For instance I can squat, I would imagine I cannot deadlift or bench but I can do back raises, hamstring curls, pec-dec machine flyes etc.

Thanks in advance!

If you are carrying excess bodyfat I would not have concerns about you continuing in a calorie deficit.

Yes, continuing to train - even in a heavily modified fashion - would be much better than not training.

Thanks Austin, appreciate the input. Hope you are doing well.
