Jordan and Austin,
First off… THANK YOU for all the great information you are willing to share on a daily basis. I know I speak for many people when I say you are an extremely valuable resource for the lifting community.
I had distal bicep rupture surgery on 8/1/18, and I’m writing to get some rehab insight, aside from the standard doom & gloom I’m predicting when the hardcast is removed on 8/13/18. Had an issue with the kickstand on my 850 lbs Indian Chieftain on 7/22/18, that left me with the choice of catching the bike (that I had just purchased with 125 crisp Benjamin Franklin’s three hrs earlier,) or let it fall on the cement and hope my insurance company would cover the repairs on a bike they didn’t yet have in their books. Since I’ve been doing SS since 2010 I opted for the former. Unfortunately, at almost 56 yrs old I probably chose poorly.
Best lifts in the past 4 mos were 365# DL’s 1x5, 265# Sq 3x5, 155# Pr 3x5, 265# Bench 3x5, and Chins 3x8. Nothing to write home about but its where I’m at after left shoulder surgery in 2010, and left hip FAI surgery in 2012, not to mention the other unpredictable life issues. I’m 5’10" with a fairly steady body wt of 215-220#.
At any rate, I’m looking for any and all suggestions and/or experiences rehabbing this beeeotch of an injury. Don’t care to stun any grannies with my guns anymore, so just want to know if I have a legitimate shot at regaining (surpassing) my strength again. My PT guy is already blaming my “crazy heavy lifting program” and saying he’s going to show me how to lift going forward. I’d like to know when I go in for these awesome PT sessions that I have some REAL lifting to look forward to one day, assuming he doesn’t bore me to death with 20 reps of 1.5 lbs dumbbell curls that first week.
Once again thank you for taking the time to consider my current situation!
