Continue or restart Strengthlifting II after a 12 day break?

Hi BBM crew,

I usually don’t miss any trainings but this block has been a mess. I started Strengthlifting II but got the flu after finishing week 2 and didn’t train for six days. After that I repeated week 2. After having finished week 4, my wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter earlier than expected. As happy as I am about that, I haven’t been to the gym for over a week and my sleep has been irregular and short. I do like to do a good round of Strengthlifting II since I enjoyed the first couple of weeks and saw some improvement. So, my question is: how do you recommend I proceed? I plan on resuming training on Monday. By then I will have had a 12 day break. I thought I’d restart the entire program. I don’t compete so I don’t mind starting over. Do I start in week 1 or week 2? Or do you recommend something else?

Hi Jordan,

I restarted Strengthlifting II as you requested.
I was enjoying the program and seeing some progress but after day 1 of week 5 I became ill again. After a couple of days a fever and recovery I want to resume training but I’m not sure where I should start. My last training was last Monday, and I’d like to train again this Monday or Tuesday. How do you recommend I continue the program after having missed a week of training? Or would it be better to start over again?

Also, this is the second time I became ill during the program. Do you think it’s a good idea to make some adjustments to the program for better recovery or should I just continue as written? If you recommend some adjustments, what would those be?
