Do women need more protein?

Hi,

I was reading your ultime top 5 list blog post and it mentioned that women need more protein and on a podcast you mentioned young males need less protein and was curious why that is. The one thing that ckmes to mind and im not sure if this is true but men being better able to utilize protein?

Nah. Some- including me- used to think that women needed more of an anabolic stimulus (dietary protein, exercise, etc.) to drive the same relative increase in anabolism (e.g. muscle building). I don’t think that’s been corroborated by the evidence to date. I also think anywhere in the ~1.6-2.0 grams of protein/kilogram bodyweight/day range would be sufficient.
