Elbow sleeves

Hi jordan, austin and all the barbell medicine team

On September I was backcountry skiing and I fell on top of my elbow that left me with some pain on the top of the bench press and the press But it didn’t stopped my training. Because of the pain i thought of using elbow sleeves for keeping my articulation warm and also to have the placebo effect of safety. However, I searched this forum and the starting strength forum and I couldn’t find any final thoughts of the use of the elbow sleeve.

So, the use of elbow sleeve are optimal or detrimental in training the upper lifts?

In which cases do you prescribe elbow sleeves for training?
Can the elbow sleeve improve proprioception of the lift and in that way improve the technique and weight?

I continued thinking and the elbow sleeves are equivalent to the knee sleeve. So, why in competitions you cant use elbow sleeves but the use of knee sleeves is almost mandatory?

If elbow sleeves help you train more productively, go for it. The only issue is, as you said, that they aren’t allowed in competition. That’s just the way the rules are written.
