Epididymysis and training

I will be seeing a urologist to be evaluated for a pretty severe and pretty sudden case. I do not literally have the STI results back, but unless we’re talking about some sort of one-in-a-billion pregnant-in-a-hot-tub type of scenario then a bacterial cause of that nature will be ruled out. The nurse practitioner I saw was very measured in how she framed the information she gave me, but I left with the impression that someone who does a lot of deadlift volume (I do) may need to cast suspicion in that direction.

If this turns into something chronic and/or I cannot deadlift without justified fear of another bout with this, but still want to be able to maintain as much glute development as I possibly can, is that goal outside the scope of practice for a BBM pain/rehab coach? Relatedly, if you happen to have any general thoughts about how this condition intersects with lifting in your experience or reading… particularly if they are, by any chance, non-depressing, I’d be grateful to hear. Cheers

If you are experiencing pain issues that are limiting you in some fashion, our pain/rehab team are excellent at helping guide people through the rehab process and can help with alternative exercise selection and scaling, if needed.

Unfortunately there isn’t much out there to indicate a strong/compelling relationship between lifting and epididymitis, but if I were in this situation and needed to figure out a way to train I’d be using our standard guide/approach.
